Here's a little teaser for Car Culture's second episode, covering the opening round of the 2011 Formula DRIFT Pro Championship Series.

While we were editing the episode, we found this clip of Justin Pawlak burning rubber and getting his tires ready to rock behind two other cars at the starting line. It turned out that we couldn't use the clip in the episode, but we thought it was way too cool to just throw away. So we decided to use it to create a short teaser/promo video for Formula DRIFT and Car Culture.

We've been going through a number of changes and improvements at Bite Me TV since 2011 began. The biggest change of all is that we cancelled our longest running series Field Trippin' and replaced it with two more focused shows, basically improving on Field Trippin'. First up was Quick Bite!, which provides quick 2-minute peeks into Hollywood and L.A. life. And now, we've unleashed Car Culture.

Car Culture gives you a look into the sports and lifestyles surrounding cars in what is arguably the capital of the auto culture universe, Southern California. From drifting and various types of racing to show-offs, lifestyle shows and those lovely umbrella girls, Car Culture celebrates our obsession with the automobile.

In our first episode, we cover Round 1 of Redline's 2011 Track Events Series. There were four different races held that weekend, the Redline Pro Time Attack, the MotoIQ Pacific Tuner Car Championship, the Lotus Cup and the Redline Pro Track Challenge. Drivers from various backgrounds, including Formula DRIFT favorite Dai Yoshihara, put their skills to the test, plus our host Arley Elizabeth competed in the first round of the Miss Redline spokesmodel contest.

We Screwed Up...SPOCOM Did Not Become Motion

We just found out that we didn't get our facts straight in February when we posted an ad for this Summer's Motion Auto Show and stated that SPOCOM had been renamed Motion. Not so!

SPOCOM is still alive, healthy and getting ready for their 2011 show tour. Motion is a new show by some of the folks who used to be involved with SPOCOM.

Actually, it turns out that SPOCOM is continuing to expand in 2011. Last year they expanded from a single show in Long Beach to a three-show tour, and in 2011 SPOCOM will have four stops; Anaheim, San Jose, Honolulu and Seattle.

We'll post tour info as soon as we get it. Until then, you can always visit SPOCOM on the web at spocomusa.com.

The 2011 Los Angeles Web Series Festival is coming up next weekend, March 25-27. We just received the weekend's schedule, and Quick Bite! will be screening on Friday, March 25, during the 1-2pm block.

LA Webfest will take place at the Stage 52 Theater, 5299 W. Washington Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90016, just west of La Brea. Tickets are $10 for each block, $45 for a whole day's screenings or $95 for the whole weekend's screenings. Click here for more info.

We're happy to announce that our new series Quick Bite! has been selected to screen at the 2011 LA Web Series Festival. The LA Web Series Festival launched in 2010 as the first all-web series festival honoring serialized shows created specifically for the internet and will happen March 25-27 at the Stage 52 Theater in Los Angeles.

Quick Bite! will be competing in the Travel/Lifestyle Series category. We will post more info on exactly when the series will be screening as we receive it.

Formula DRIFT Heads to Qatar in 10 Days

Formula DRIFT has just announced the Formula DRIFT Global Challenge, with the first event happening in only ten days...on March 18. Three weeks before Round 1 of the Formula DRIFT Pro Championship season in Long Beach, nine top drivers will head to Doha, Qatar for the inaugural event at the Qatar Racing Club.

Formula DRIFT Pro Championship drivers Chris Forsberg, Tanner Foust, Michael Essa, Tony Brakohiapa, Fredric Aasbo, Mike Whiddett and Daijiro Yoshihara will be joined by Formula DRIFT Asia Championship stars, Tengku Djan Ley of Malaysia and Kiki Sak Nana of Thailand.

Wekfest is Coming to Los Angeles!

Oh yeah! We Southern Californians typically don't carry around a whole lot of envy around with us, as there's always such a variety of happenings going on in our corner of the U.S. But we have to admit that our peeps up in Northern California have had something that quite a few of us have been envious of...Wekfest.

Now we have a lot of huge car and car lifestyle shows in and around L.A., and if you watch Bite Me TV you know that we've covered most of them over the past three years. But Wekfest has built up a reputation as being something special, which makes us very happy boys indeed that Wekfest is expanding in 2011 to a tour with stops here in Los Angeles, plus Chicago, Dallas and Florida.

All we have is a date of June 5 for the L.A. show for now, but we'll keep you posted as we find out more.

Celebrate Black History Month by Getting a Lap Band? WTF???

It's been a couple of weeks since we released our Quick Bite! episode poking fun at the hundreds of lap band billboards polluting Southern California freeways, and a few days ago we noticed that some of those billboards have been replaced by newly redesigned lap band billboards. Check this one out...

So, WHAT THE HELL?!?!? These buttwipes really want us to celebrate Black History Month by going under the knife and getting lap bands?

If we follow that logic, maybe we should celebrate Independence Day by getting liposuction done in July. Geez, we missed our chance to celebrate Chinese New Year by getting nose jobs. Damn!

Or should we be pissed that this billboard pushing for the public to celebrate Black History Month by getting lap bands is placed next to a freeway on the south side of Compton? Are they going to put one out in East L.A. in a couple of months suggesting that people should celebrate Cinco de Mayo by getting lap bands?

Whatever these boners were thinking, this is an advertising FAIL...

We had a cool hang with the ItsJDMyo and Groove Entertainment crews, and the gorgeous models hitting the red carpet made for a very pleasant evening, but unfortunately due to the topless gogo dancers that Voyeur features we couldn't shoot a Quick Bite! episode in the club as expected. But hey, if you ever want to party in a club with topless gogo dancers then Voyeur is the place!

For the past couple of years, Los Angeles freeways have been plastered with more lap band billboards than anyone can count. It’s been crazy! You’d think every man woman and child needs one by the sheer volume of lap band billboards.

That combination of a product like the lap band (which really only about the 5% of the American population that is seriously overweight should even consider) with more billboards than any other product in L.A. pushed the Bite Me TV crew to bust out their cameras to poke fun at the insanity of it all.

Take a ride on the 91 Freeway with Druu and remember…YOU NEED A LAP BAND! At least that’s what the billboards broadcast. EVERYBODY DOES! GET ONE NOW! GO! GO! GO!

When we covered the Formula DRIFT Championship, we were able to see the DIRECTV crew in action. I even gave one of their camera operators my spot next to the track during the semi-final round. Drew Santos and Karl Yamashita hold workshops and model shoots all over Southern California, and we joined them for their January 2011 workshop in Beverly Hills. We have a new series! It's called Quick Bite!

So here’s the story… Our original series Field Trippin' covers events involving many of the sub-cultures that are uniquely Hollywood, namely entertainment, car culture and porn. Episodes are typically between 4-6 minutes long and we try to give a good overview of what makes each event special. But what we've found over the past three years since we started Bite Me TV is that we see, hear about and experience a lot of cool and wild stuff that we’ve wanted to get on video and share, but that wouldn’t make full Field Trippin’ episodes. A shorter format, say 2-minute videos, would work great.

So say hello to Quick Bite! It’ll be less predictable than Field Trippin’ as we might cover anything from a Hollywood gala to a wild party, and it’ll be short, a little sweaty and always have a happy ending. A perfect quickie…

Here’s our first episode. I was selected to be a judge for the 2011 Tasty Awards, which recognizes the best in food, drink and fashion programming on TV and the web. Think of the Tasty’s as the Emmy’s for foodies. With a bunch of celebrities from cooking shows, cocktail shows and fashion shows all converging on the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood for the Tasty Awards last Thursday night, Joel and I grabbed our cameras and headed straight for the red carpet. Here’s a quick bite of the ceremony and after-party, featuring celebs and show hosts such as Zane Lamprey, Nathan Lyon, Alie and Georgia, Jeanie Mai, Candice Kumai, Leslie Sbrocco and Jolene Sugarbaker.

'Mortal Kombat' Being Remade as a Web Series

The above video MK: Rebirth has been available on the web for a few months, but we have some news to share. The short was created as a proof of concept to try and convince Warner Bros. to green light a new Mortal Kombat film. It sorta almost worked...Warner didn't go for the film idea but instead decided to throw their weight behind a new web series.

The word on the street is that shooting of the new 10-episode series is set to begin next month. We don't know how many, if any, of the cast members from the short film might be in the series. Michael Jai White as Jax Briggs? We certainly hope so. The dangerous and delicious Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade? She played Sonya in the short as a favor to a friend, but we're definitely lusting, um...uhh, I mean hoping for her return to the part.

We had a blast this past Saturday at AutoCon. Big ups to Justin Fong who built what must be the only underground car show in Southern California. It was a big success, bringing out dozens of clean and mean rides, a number of heavy hitting crews and sponsors such as It's JDM Yo!, AutoFashion, DPE Wheels and Falken Tire and gorgeous models such as Chaba, Amy Fay, Jewelyn and Raichelle Viado. The U.S. Marines were on site collecting gobs and gobs of toys for Toys for Tots and delicious munchies were provided by the Temaki Truck, Dogzilla and Dos Chinos.

I'm a big fan of the NCIS TV shows. I don't always have the time to kick back in front of the tube to watch them regularly, but this week I decided to chill on Tuesday night and take in both shows. The unwinding worked. Sometimes you've just gotta pull away from work, sit your ass down and bake in front of the TV, right?

Well, to my pleasant surprise I caught a glimpse of Shay Maria at the beginning of NCIS: Los Angeles. The episode is called Absolution. She played a yoga instructor who cast member Marty Deeks was trying to attract (until he was punk'd by his partner Kensi Blye).

With Halloween come and gone, daylight savings over and the Holiday Season getting started, you've probably thought that this year's car show season is over and done with. Ok, the LA Auto Show is this month, but who's really excited about seeing Kia's 2012 3-banger or Ford's latest F-150 design, right?

The engaging story and very high production values sucked me right in. Oh, and look for Bond girl Olga Kurylenko in the cast. It turns out that Tyranny has taken quite a few years to create, and series creator John Beck Hoffman cast Olga back in 2004, before she hit the big screen in Hitman, Max Payne and Quantum of Solace. 14 episodes have been posted so far, with more to come.

Four shows are scheduled for the 2010 series, and while RPM's Chicago, Dallas and Northern California events are evening shows with nighclub vibes, their stop in Southern California was a daytime show out in the countryside. Top import model Christine Mendoza hosts Bite Me TV's coverage of RPM's Irvine, California show, with narration by Joei Bonifacio.
